As someone who sat in on most of the Board meetings prior to the actual AGM yesterday, I was VERY much impressed by what I saw and heard! They are ALL [including our new Past President Mr. Bransfield] very much committed to working together "as a team", in running our organization!

I too am thrilled by this, and wish them all the best.

I too am thrilled.
It's good to put all the crap behind, so that MAAC can move forward!

Here's to a great 2004!

I too attended the AGM (and banquet the night before).

I must say, I'm much more optimistic about the future.

More good news to come.

If ever there was a need to understand why your proxies should be filled out and passed on to the AGM, this past AGM with it's multitude of resolutions (some good, some bad and some very bad) would be the reason! A lot of resolutions were dismissed out of hand and many were accepted.
I was very impressed with the professional way in which the meeting was conducted and the way the board members considered the resolutions and gave their reasons pro and con.

We had an interesting talk from a member of Transport Canada and his discussion clearly indicated why we need to be closely associated with them as they are there to support us when inquiries or complaints come in. If they have an understanding of what we are doing and it is a safe and well thought out practise on our part then we will have their support and it is that support that will help save our fields and our hobby.

Our past president Wayne Bransfield gave a speech indicating how he was treated with respect and accepted by ALL board members during the three days of meetings and at the end he received a standing ovation.

New MAAC Exec

I attended the last 3 days of the Board meeting and AGM. There was a very positive atmosphere and I am confident that the Executive and Board will work well together. The Executive will bring a wealth of experience to their job, and the attitude of the entire Board can only be described as constructive. Regarding Brian's comment on matters being dismissed out of hand at the AGM, please bear in mind that everything was discussed exhaustively by the Board in the preceeding days and that there was tremendous time pressure at the public AGM due to the huge number of Resolutions and Recommendations, some of which were quite complex. Had there been any objections from the floor, I'm sure the chairman would have back-pedalled and given more time. Thanks are also due to Howie Cowan, of BC, the Constitution Chairman, who chaired many of the meetings and must be feeling totally exhausted. Having Mr Arlo Speer, of Transport Canada, at the AGM to speak to us was an excellent idea (thanks to Jean Blaquiere), and brought out the need for a continuing and mutually beneficial dialogue between MAAC and Transport Canada.
