When I first got into r/c back in the days of RC Online, I went by the name X-Wing2000 because I was a big star wars fan (still am) and it was the year 2000. I then change to recon a) because it is shorter and b) because it sounds cool!

Whats in a name

I've been flying since the 60s.Thought I was good enough. Then my Grandson Starts to fly.He put me to shame his first time out.Now he is flying Helicopters the same way.How do these young guys do it so easy.So I changed my thoughts and call my self Copilot thanks to a real pilot Tom Hallet. My hat is off to him.

Actually my first name is Charles and my middle name is Gary. My father's name was Charles so to avoid confusion I was called Chuckie or Junior, both which I disliked with a passion. So I chose to go by my middle name. The confusion continues.....especially at places like banks when someone has written me a cheque made out to Gary and I sign the back Charles G. I often get asked for ID and told to avoid confusion I should have them made out to Charles instead.

When making reservations or appointments I have to remember if I have given them my first name or my middle name and 9 times out of 10 I am wrong or told no one by that name has an appointment and I get the straingest looks when I ask if they have the appointment for my other choice of names. OH BOY! Now I getting myself confused

Uh... it's my real name.

I used to use handles like 'Enigma' and BTDT (short for Been there done that) but found perceptions of online personalities often differed (in an unkind way) from the actual person. It was also way too tempting (as I saw others do) to build a false personality that might prove embarrassing if ever found out... I wasn't comfortable with the anonymity and now refuse to hide behind an alter ego.... Personal choice.

I was teaching at a local high school a few years back. My last name is Jollimore, but the students started calling me Mr Jollidude. I decided to keep the nickname. (I've been called a lot worse than that during my years as a substitute teacher). I teach Junior High now and my students just call me "Jollie".

The name to the left is actually a nickname. But it's one I use in the real world as well.

My real name is James Brown.

And no, I don't sing. But I feel good!

Back when I was a FidoNet Sysop, a bunch of us would get together once a month to shoot the bull. Some of them got to calling me Alt-Jim. And it's not computer related. Alt was short for Altitude. Those that have met me will know why.

Oh, wait. I've got a pic that should illustrate things clearly. That's me on the far right.
