My old Delta was rescued from a garage sale many years ago and I keep a narrow blade in it strictly for profile work. Any straight or block cuts are done on the bigger saws with heavy duty blades that resist twisting.

The old scroll saw is used mainly for the inside cuts where the blade has to be placed inside the work piece. It's my least favorite because its slow compared to the other two. But for some jobs its the only tool. in metal I can break the band saw blade and re-weld it inside but that is not practical for wood.

That old Delta will last a lifetime of model building. I tried the Sears, Canadian Tire and offshore brands and was not that impressed. When I brought the old Delta home it cut nice and straight right from the first. You could tell the old guy I bought it from took real good care of it.

I agree with Dennis kijiji is your best option for a good deal, but as far as straight cutting goes it really difficult with a band saw. It maybe best to cut and sand as previously suggested.
