Building our membership...

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
I have really enjoyed RCCanada since I joined. Seems we have a real good group of flyers here. I would however, like to see the membership here grow. With more members we would get a more wealth of information and also get even more great deals on buying and selling items.

The advantages of a larger membership are many and I think we should all try and recruit more members. How can we do this? I have a few suggestions but I would also like to hear what others have to say about this so please feel free to comment positive or negative. Also do you think this forum should be limited to Canadian members or should we be branching out just as RCU has?

Thanks for reading and commenting on this subject.

I have a pretty good idea....when I started to search
for canadian R/C sites I had a bit of trouble until I
stumbled upon a website. I dont know if you heard of
it before but it tells wether the website is in canada, us,
italy, england, etc.... Well any ways the name of it was . It was one of my first good
resources to finding RC sites. But during all my searches
I cannot remember ever seeing the rccanada site there.
I only found out about this site in early april and that
was only by a friend. All that has to be done really is
that you fill out a form about the site and just submit
it. there is different categories that you would be listed in
and I think it would make a good Improvement on the
amount of people that join. But did you ever the members
section??? Since I joined in early april their must be at
least a few hundred or so join. That just my opinion.

RC Canada blitz

That is a great idea Don.

If we all try and get one more member to join that would get the ball rolling. That could double our membership here.

I always ask my flying buddies if they are a member of RC Canada when I am talking to them.

What if we all put a notice in our clubs news letters.

I already have my one new member.

The decals should also help spread the word.

Great Idea! Perhaps another way is to add the signature to our posts in other forums.

I stumbled into this site because someone had posted the link in either RCUniverse, or RCGroups. I guess the best way to advertise would be to put the link to here in our "signatures" in those other sites.

There are a lot of Canucks who post in those "other" sites".......

Mine is not to reason why; I just wire them up to fry...I mean Fly!

What's wrong with the membership we have and the way things are progressing?

If you look at the membership over the last year I believe it has doubled. Besides this place is just like ALL RC Clubs... you can have 5000 members but there are gonna only be about 50 - 100 who post regularly and post CONTENT not just wisecracks or garbage.. just like your club there are active members and those that just like to say they belong!

Some of those other sites are just way to big and impersonnal. Guys on this board actually see each other quite a bit during the year and it makes the whole modeling experience more enjoyable. Why have members who do nothing?

Actually this site has tripled in less than a year, which if you apply the ten to one rule vis a vis the US puts it in the same position in Canada as RCU in the US.
Bigger isnt necessarily better.Have you tried navigating RCU since it was "improved"?
Content is important for example and unbrideled politics and agendas will ruin a site ,since most true enthusiasts get turned off in a hurry by egotistical cyber hogs with agendas.
It takes real skill and sometimes guts to steer a site through the bull week after week, and we are fortunate to have a principal like Jason who seems to have a real skill in that area.I know he doesnt do it because its making him rich

Thanks Kev.

We're growing at a steady/slightly increasing rate. The latest stats show 2.37 new members per day, which is up from around x-mas time...then it was about 2 even.

We're doing well. I've been a little swamped with other things lately, but I hope to add a few new things to the site soon, and we have a few more contests coming up soon. Stay tuned as we continue to grow!

Thanks for all the support guys.

Yeah, I agree with Kevin, I seldom visit RCU anymore, and I've left other sites when they turned into political soapboxes for petty minds with nothing better to do than criticise the efforts of others.

I've said it before and I'm sticking by it, Jason runs a tight ship and it's the only site I return to regularly.
