Sig 4 star 40 ARF

I had a thread on the sig 4 star arf in the general RC, but for the sake of having something here in the new ARF catagory, I have to say it is the nicest ARF I have assembled (or even seen) out of at least 6 to 8.

It went together very well, the quality of work is excellent and the hardware provided is top notch. I had absolutely nothing to say bad about it!

The plane awaits the test flight hopefully this weekend...

It is a plane I can highly recommend to anyone (from a perspective of what you get for your $200, and how it is constructed ).

The instructions are also top notch.

Are the wings sheeted up to the main spar?

Nope. Sheeted only in the center section. But the ribs are close together and there are some "sub spars" to support the covering between the main spar and the LE.

The wing is quite lightweight.

I weighed my plane on the digital balance, and it is one ounce over 5 lbs. The weight advertised is 4.75 to 5.25 pounds and the engine I used has a fairly heavy muffler. If I used a lighter weight engine it would be under 5 lbs easily.

I finally got to test fly this bird last night. With a .40 engine, it is more than capable of any sport aerobaitc manouvers (in and outside snaps, multiple snaps vertically, a great vertical climb to hundreds of feet, knife edge, etc all the looping and rolling manouvers)

I was very impressed with the flying characteristics, and also that it does all this on the "lower" end of the recommended power.

I ended up building the kit "stock" and not modifying anything, as I want to see how it lasts long term.

Sig definitely has a winner with this one!
