if you've ever flown an r/c glider, you'll know about the "cushion"of air just above theground. you come in to land on a big field....and just glide forever 1 foot off the ground!..

Oh yes, I've experience the cushion, or ground effect with my Spirit Sailplane, and with the Kadet Senior, as long as there is forward motion. No forward motion, no ground effect, and KerPlunk!
It is awsome the way a lightly loaded airfoil just seems to want to fly forever, and a bit unnerving, too when you are running out of airstrip faster than altitude!
The older I get, the better I used to be!
