is this an HK 500 per chance?

If it is, this may help...

I helped a club member set one up last season and was it ever a PITA sorry to say. I had to replace a few plastic parts with the aluminum version just to get it in the air. The plastic stuff was soo flexible the blades would litteraly go to like 90 degrees of pitch pretty much flat sideways just under the load of the heli spooling up lolol.

i also noticed the nyloc nuts were not to my standard at least in the sense that there were barely any rubber in them.

So I replaced the nylocs on the main and tail blades, along with the 2 bolts in the main shaft, upper one that hold the head on and lower one that goes through gears.

And like I even did on my Align 500L dominator, I also put good quality Dubro bolts in all those same spots I replaced the nylocs in.

Also, in the end I could never get the blade tracking dead on because he was using $10 Fiberglass Hobbyking specials!!!

Re: Loose nut

I stand to be corrected, but are nylon locknuts not designed for 'one time' use only, especially in critical areas?

Re: Loose nut

Actually Nylock nuts are reuseable maybe pinch type nuts are reuseable but the bolt they go on aren't. As far as my heli goes it is Hk I have since purchased a 7 channel radio and now I can't get my DJI450 with a Lite controller to acknowledge my reciever, lets put it this way anything that flies is trouble. I'll order Align running gear for it with blades that will help the heli some.

Re: Loose nut

Well I'm slowly converting the HK into Align so far the rotor head, blades, main gear and pinion have been changed to Align and yes I am noticing the difference. Next will be the tail changed over to torque tube and upgrade the servos I still have to learn how to set up the Futaba 401 with my radio. I have started to gather parts for my four blade fly bar rotor head I hope to start machining it next week maybe I should start a build thread.
