Snow now, Great. I had to look up Dryden and I am surprised that you don't have snow all year. That's north.

Hey, C'mon now! I was raised in Saskatchewan and alway thought my relatives in Dryden lived in the banana belt! Let's face it, at least 80 percent of Canada is further north than Dryden.

I must admit, I do enjoy being further south now.

Yeah Bob, but it's not like Arizona or anything like that. It's Canada. It's not a DRY snow.

I use to get a real chuckle when I lived in the Kirkland Lake area for the 7 years I was there, when I would tell folks back down South that it is -40 C and it stays there for weeks at a time during the winter, they would say: "Yeah, but its a dry cold! Its worse here at 0 C because of the humidity. Believe me, when its -40 C, I don't give a darn what effect the humidity does or doesn't do. At -40 C its pretty friggin cold.

You can tell you live in Northern Ontario, when its too cold to go ski-dooing or ice fishing. When the temp goes up to -20 you will hear folks saying: "Thank God its warming up!" Go for a walk at 8 in the A.M. in the winter and you'll see dogs frozen to fire hydrants!

My first winter in Larder Lake ( 27 km East of Kirkland Lake, about 14 km west of the Quebec border ) on New Years Day at 5:20 AM, 1978 or 9, it hit a record low of -58 C. You don't even attempt to start your car in that kind of temps. Ask Andrew Coholic, he'll varify what its like! Even if you should get your car started, it feels like your driving on square tires because its so cold the flat spot takes quite awhile to round out! Now thats cold!

Ahhh Southern Ontario.....really is the banana belt comparitively! My first winter back south I could walk about comfortably out side at 0 C in short sleeve shirts. The good ole days of life in Northern Ontario!!! But dispite the black flys, the sand flys, the house flys of spring and in the winter the snow flys, I really do miss the beautiful surrounding hills, bush, and lakes of Northern Ontario! And I really miss the TARMAC Club. They are a great bunch of guys and I had a lot of good times!!
