Got a little more work done on the canopy/hatch. After the first coat of epoxy was lightly sanded down, a second flow coat is applied. This basically fills the weave. This is also sanded down and then I applied a guide coat of black paint. When this is sanded off you can see where all of the low spots are. These were filled with a bit of spot filler. Next step is to sand these flat and then I can start priming.

The firewall area was sealed with a thinned coat of epoxy as well.

Re: JTec Radiowave MX2 2.8m Build log

Cool, I hope it helps! I've been slacking off on this build now that flying season is in full swing but I hope to be covering by this weekend.

Re: JTec Radiowave MX2 2.8m Build log

Hi there Orthobird, The headers need a 90mm drop from the face of the exhaust flange to the centre of the pipe.

Re: JTec Radiowave MX2 2.8m Build log

Wow! Only thing I can say after I flew Alan's MX2! His plane was finished last week and we finally had the chance to take it to the field last night. After sorting a carb issue, the DA100 ran like a champ. We finally ran out of excuses so I lined it up and took off. A few clicks of trim and it was hands off. Balance felt perfect (back edge of the wingtube). Al and Kevin Young have reported other guys saying that these planes feel and fly like a 40%er. I have to agree. It felt so good and comfortable I immediately flew the 2016 Intermediate schedule on its maiden flight It was setup for IMAC so no 3D was attempted (not that I can do much anyways!)

I am very motivated to get mine finished now. The horizontal stabs and elevators are covered along with the rudder. The left wing and ailerons are almost covered and all of the fiberglass and canopy is ready for paint. I'll get some pictures up as soon as the covering is finished. If you want to see Alan's plane you can check out his thread on RCCanucks.

The best thing about your report is Alan no longer has any excuses. Haha. Great to hear you both liked it.
