Re: JTec Radiowave MX2 2.8m Build log

It really was awesome to see this plane fly, I was way too nervous and appreciate having someone as capable as Gordon fly this for the maiden.

Hi Gordon:
Do you have any videos of the flights?
Thanks,

Re: JTec Radiowave MX2 2.8m Build log

Congratulations guys! Glad to hear everything went well. Too bad it needed those "couple of clicks of trim" to get it to fly straight... I can give Alan some pointers on that . Of course, he probably didn't turn off the ignition on you either
Alan, will it be ready for the competition on the 10/11 or will you fly a more experienced bird for that?

Ha!!!

The plane is ready, I may not be!!!
If I feel comfortable with it this weekend I will fly it for the IMAC on the 10/11.

Re: JTec Radiowave MX2 2.8m Build log

Its been an awfully long time since my last post but I have been chipping away at the MX2. The base coat of yellow is painted on the cowl, canopy hatch and wheel pants. The wings and stabs are covered. Top of the wing and stab is plain yellow for now and will get some trim colours shortly. The bottom of these surfaces are in a high contrast bumble bee scheme!

Before ironing on the yellow monokote to the side of the fuselage I installed the elevator and rudder servo leads. I've got a really busy work week coming up and then I'm leaving on Thurs. for an IMAC contest down south in Washington. With any luck I'll be flying this plane by the beginning of October.

Re: JTec Radiowave MX2 2.8m Build log

Got out to the field for a maiden flight today! A successful (but stressful) maiden flight. I check everything before the first flight but somehow I managed to not properly secure the right wheel

It gracefully dropped off the plane on takeoff so I flew for about ten minutes getting it trimmed (3 clicks of down) and getting a feel for the low speed handling characteristics (they are great!). Lined up for a landing and managed to do a pretty good one wheel landing...

If the weather holds I'll post a proper flight report along with some pictures of the finished bird next weekend.
Thanks to Alan for helping during the flight and Ken for the video!
