I seem to be having a problem with my Digipace II cycler. When I put a
fully charged battery on the discharge cycle it only works a few minutes
before switching to charge mode.If I take the pack off the cycler and
hook it up to a Hobbico digital meter(the same 300ma. load) it runs
for two + hrs.Has anybody had a problem like this and would there be
any service available in the Toronto area?I have read in another forum
that cold solder joints have been known to happen but I have yet to open
it up to look.

(Speaking from experience with the Digipace I) Is the correct number of cells selected? If so I suspect the cutoff voltage is out of whack. In the DI there is a pot that allows you to adjust the voltage. I notice in the manual it says that not all are so equipped so don't know about yours. Some used a fixed resistance. There was a circuit diagram with mine so I could identify the pot. There may be a fault with another component though. I suspect service charges from a general electronics shop would be more expensive than buying a new one. TT stopped servicing the DI when they bought Ace. Don't know about the II.

In the manual it is explained that the voltage is adjusted by charging a discharged pack for a couple minutes and then monitoring the voltage as it is discharged and adjusting accordingly until it clicks over to charge at the correct value. Ace uses 1.1v per cell as a cut off. My Hobbico (in)Accucycle uses 1.05V.
