I have the 87" Ohio RC (now defunct) Extra 300L. It is the most honest, goes where you point it type plane I have ever flown (have had it for one season).

It is too heavy for 3D but it will easily hover, and do all the IMAC type aerobatics (not that I can - but the plane is capable )

I havent flown any other Extra so I cant comment on them. But this one certainly flies excellently.

which two kits were you looking at cause now we have to talk about comparing models not the full-scale ships, unless you are looking for that!

I can attest to the Ohio model, i have the same plane and really is easy to fly, possibly biggerthan you want to start with thgough, the Goldberg Extra is not 3D capable but is the most honest flying plane i have ever seen, my brother has uncanny control over his, inverted tail touches, flat spins, and it will land at walking speed.

I actually have no idea what I am looking for but if I do get anything, it won't be for a while. My dad and I have several projects on the go already:
Lancair 60
Cessna 182 Skylane
A little viper 500 racer
And my grampa's corsair; the wing is the only thing built

We dont have anything really accrobatic right now, the closest thing might be my big stick or my SPAD dogfighter. I am just looking for suggestions on which planes would be good for me. I am not worried about skill level but I want to keep the size at or under a 91 to keep it affordable.
