My favorite is "Dambusters" actually was stationed about 15 miles from the Mohne dam. Had quite a few visits there and they have the bomb that didn't blow on display. Talk about big for the day. The detonator was bigger than a 5 gallon pail. If any body is interested I was just over at the Lancaster museum to take some pictures of the Clunk for my model and there web site is
http://www.lancastermuseum.ca
Some really good reading on what they have done let alone what they have on display.
John

Two good stories of the 1950 USAF.

The "Gathering of Eagles". Great shots of B52. Stars Rock Hudson.

"SAC" This one stars Jimmy Stewart and June Allison. Fantastic shots of B-36 and B-47.

My list

Rocketman , nostalgic, with neat Gee Bee flying shots.
Always, great couples' movie with excellent flying shots, PBY and A26.
Battle of Britain, a classic.
662 Squadron (Mosquitoes) based on a true story.
Memphis Belle, love that B-17!
Pearl Harbour, I thought it was a great movie.
Dam Busters, another classic.
Flight of the Phoenix, can't beat an aviation story with James Stewart.
Spirit of St. Louis, one of my favourites.

I loved Jimmy Stewards line in the movie, Flight of the Pheonix, when he discovers the German engineer built model planes: "Ya ya mean ya only ah, build toy airplanes?" and the German's response: "Zay are MODEL Planes, Zay are NOT toys!"

I think that expresses my sentaments exactly! I really dislike it when people refer to our models as... little toy airplanes!

Films to watch

Some of the films to watch are Piece of Cake [ seen on PBS about Spitfires in battle of britain] Blue Max, Wing and a Prayer p40s, If you like Docementrys look for Battle fields [ covers all branches of services and enemys view point] and there is allot on the Discovery Channel if you got Cable. The best one that I liked the most was Finding Private Ryan , when I was at the show and the Normandy Beach scene was playing I felt like I was there and trying to jump for cover.[was that ever real]
