I have a 60 inch wingspan Brian Taylor spit (Glass Fuse) and was going to cut some foam wings. Does anyone know what is the suggested amount of washout?? I was thinking about 3% as that seems to work for most of my other stuff. I was just wondering what others who have build it have built in their wings.

Hello Rubbie,

The proper washout for the full scale Spitfire is 2.5 degrees total for the standard elliptical wings. Thats +2 degrees at the root going to -.5 degrees at the tip.

If making a clipped wing Spit the tip incidence is -0 degrees 8 minutes

See my website at for super detailed exact scale Spitfire drawings of the Mk IX & XVI

You'll enjoy this story. I met you once about 12 years ago at your neighbours birthday party (Mike Hoenhe). We got a tour of your basement laboratory and you and I talked rc for quite a while. This past Sunday was Mike and Wendy's 25 wedding anniversary party and I asked Mike whatever happened to the guy with the industrial complex in his basement. He told me what you were up to and mentioned that you had a model airplane websight of some sort. This morning I turn on my computer and stumble on to your websight!! Is that freaky or what! Anyway, your Spit research is truly amazing. Hope you spend some time on this forum.
