Don't know that much about the 8000, but do have an RD6000 Super. Very happy with it. Easy to program, each channel you're programming is indicated in the display (El, Ru, Th etc) instead of just a number, built in count up/down timer, throttle cut plus the ability to control any manufacturer's receiver (not PCM of course) on the same channel.

I had some problems with mine early on, but they were dealt with very satisfactorily by their customer service dept...made a die hard airtronics fan out of me! You can get prompt advice on programmimg questions via the user's group on yahoo or from their tech support people directly. Very nice folks.

Now if only I could convince the "boss" I need one!

Got one about a month ago. Love it! Does anything JR or Futaba does.
10-model memory and model naming is very convenient. And the price is right too. Warning beeps about dual rate engagement is a nice feature. Also like the high throttle warning when turning on. Kill throttle is a nice feature. And if you leave it on and don't move any sticks it'll let you know you're wasting valuable battery flying power. Go to the Airtronics site and check out the features.
