Yard sticks

I just got back from the Home Depot in Waterloo. After asking the clerk if they carried yard sticks he showed me several metal ones. I explained that I needed wooden ones. He asked why and I proudly told him of my project (Debonair). He leaned over and wispered "where you not aware of the hobby shop in Kitchener that sells airplane kits, you may be better off buying a kit instead." I almost put my half built SPAD right up his hanger!

Does anyone know of another place in Kitchener that sells "Wooden" yard sticks?

I've seen this happen at both LOWES and Home Depot. The wooden yardsticks are in the Paint Department. So far, every time I've asked someone who didn't work in the paint department...lead me to plastic or metal yardsticks...and didn't know the store even had wooden ones.

The wooden yardsticks at my local HD were in the paint department, not with the tools.

Go check it out again. HD clerks dont even know what stock they have out of their own department.

Oh and they were a bit pricey, 1.98$ for one.

Thanks guys! I will look in the home depot paint dept. I ended up buying the same size wood at the advise of the clerk. He also told me to paint my own numbers on it I think the yard sticks would have been cheaper however. I never thought of the paint department when I was there. Thanks

The cheapest place for yardsticks I have found in Timmins at least is a stationery supply store. The last time I found some there they were in the $3.50 range. The other place I've seen them in Wallmart in the sewing section.

hope this helps

Thanks, I will check out Walmart. You used to see them all over the place. Now they are getting to be a rare commodity

I don't know how you guys are so lucky, finding wooden yard sticks so cheap! I checked our local Walmart, and of course they only sell 'meter sticks' and in the fabric department,.....at $5.98 a throw!!!. The rest of the plane doesn't cost that much!!!!

Didn't hardware stores give these away as advertising in the good old days? I seem to remember this from my childhood.
