If they are racing engines I would suggest the following.

K&B plug, 1S. short reach, or, 1L long reach. Which ever is appropriate.

7dia x 5p prop, narrow blade type if you can still find them, preferebly wood.

15% fuel.

Again, if they are racing engines they should run somewhere between 20-23k. Beware of using any molded props at this rpm.

I have run a few of the older ST racing engines. They run similar to the Rossi I am running currently (rear exhaust, front intake,on a pipe).

I am using an OS #8 plug and the APC pylon series props, currently a 6.5x5.5 or 6.5x6, turning about 20,000 static.

I just run regular 15% fuel, but if they are of the lapped iron piston/steel sleeve type run a minimum of 20% oil and a castor/synth blend, your engine will be happier.

take a picture and I can probably identify the engine particulars for you...

In the interests of safety only I will emphasise my warning.

About three or four years ago APC produced the 'D-1" series of propellers for use in Q40 Pylon Racing. They were the grey glass filled variety, sizes around 7.2 x 7.7. They were great props and we used them. Our engines were turning 22k plus. Then the props started to fail, the blades were shearing off. APC stopped making them. In any case for any higher revving engine use only those APC props that have the "D-1" designation on the hub, not the "C-2". We allow only one type of molded prop in Q40. That is the black carbon prop from APC.

It seems that once the 20,000rpm plus figure is reached the grey props are suspect. So be warned again. If you take your eye out you are now out of spares.

Here endeth the lesson.
