I got flying with it yesterday, even though it was not as good as I am used to with the newer engines. It was still a bit of fun to get the revs out of it, but a lot of guys were having problems yesterday with the heat and humidity. In any case it did not dead stick, and I got few really good flights in with it. All told, I have become much more knowledgable due to the help of you gents. As I said above, I will print out this thread and stick it in the log book for this engine/plane and keep it handy for reference.

FYI, it idles at about 3300 and WOT hits about 11000 with a 10x7 Master Airscrew

You should be able to ge that idle down at least another 500 - 700 RPM. You are using a tach, correct?
