Hey David,

Where did you get your charger? I just checked Greathobbies website and they don't list it. What is the approximate price for this unit?

they all do in the new maac mag

they all do in the (aug?) new maac mag. hobbyhobby, hobby wholesale and greathobbies. all about ther same price, one was cheaper but i don't remember which, only by 6 bucks or something.

my hobbico mk II just died the other day. i don't know for sure, but i think it may have contributed to a crash.

i charged on the way to the field. flew twice, crashed on the third (plane went kinda wonky) i don't want to say that i am definatly not to blame, but i put the battery on the accucycler next day and they were pretty dead. and i went to try the field charger and the power light won't come on. (and yes the fuse is good) went two hours to my winnipeg LHS. they told me to beat feet, and send it to hobbico, cause i had bought it at christmas time.

i need a charger too....
i do like to buy other peoples junk...

Bob the Builder is my pilot.

i wish i were more gruntled.

Charger Vs Cycler

Sorry to take so long to get back to you, but the Hobbico MKII does not have those features, nor did I feel I needed them. They are features of battery Cyclers's. Battery Cycling is something that is not recommended for LiPo's as it shortens their life span. In reading the popular magazines over the last few months the point was made that LiPo's have a lifespan of around 300 cycles with degradation becoming apparent from about 200 cycles on up. LiPo's do not benefit from cycling in anyway so the extra $ that a cycler costs did not seem to give a positive benefit for a flyer whose battery arsenal is made up mainly of LiPo's. The measuring devices that have proven ususeful are "WHATTMETER" and a stop watch or timer on the transmitter. The Whattmeter lets the flyer know the actual power draw of the motor/propeller combinations that has installed on an aircraft which can then be used to predict the run time possible for a given capacity battery. The timer or stop watch is used to compare the predicted motor run with actual motor run until the LiPo aware ESC indicates usable battery reserve energy has been depleted, or the attentative flyers notices the motor revs dropping. There's lots of gadgets out there and for most of us few $$ so think about what equipment you want to have and how to maximize the dollar cost benefit of it for your arsenal.

Salutations from the Pacific North WET!

S.P.A.D.s, Fibreglas & Balsa EDF's, Foamies, Brushless powered and nitro balsa planes, they're all in my hanger, just don't explain what it all means to the mrs, eh?
