L wing is pretty much finished and is warp free. Thin, medium CA and 30 minute epoxy.

Re: Deitchman 1/3 Fokker EII

Thanks Manny!

Both wings are now complete! I have started to cover the ailerons with Linen Solartex. I have also completed the linkages. 4-40 rod and Robart 1" control horns. Both ailerons have been hinged with 6 each of the large Robart hinges. Hitec 5645MG servos.

Re: Deitchman 1/3 Fokker EII

I have started to cover the wings with Linen Solartex. Straight forward application with no real curves to deal with. This process took me about 30 mins.

Re: Deitchman 1/3 Fokker EII

I see you've been working on this model since April.
How do you maintain such high quality workmanship?

On MY long term projects, I often see frustration--

epoxy wont cure, warps of all kinds, serious deviation from scale,
wheels that turn out different sizes, things won't line up, paint curdles, etc, etc.

What pulls the project through is my GOOD ENOUGH attitude. The result usually flies, but; scale judges are asked to keep back 50 ft !

Re: Deitchman 1/3 Fokker EII

Ok I'm going to let you in on my secret....... I build 2-3 models at the same time..... I have this winter on the go a 1/3 Eindecker, 1/3 Fokker DVIII and I am starting a 1/4 scale Gotha G.V bomber with a 25' wingspan. Some where in there I am also helping a friend with his MR Aerodesign Beaver and starting an A36 for another friend...... I enjoy building and if I feel like I'm getting bored of a project then I put is aside and work on something else. "Good Enough" for me usually isn't and I end up re-doing it....so I have learned to do it right once and move on. Poor build and finish quality comes from being rushed....take your time...it will fly one day and you will be much more proud and satisfied with the end result. I am by no means an expert builder..... but I am learning everyday, sometimes by my own mistakes and sometimes from the advice of others but most of the time its from just trying something new and perfecting my own skills. Also, understand that I don't spend every waking hour in my shop, my wife would kill me.
