SIXTY, and it took the patience of a very good Instructor(Gary Maker). Six weeks of 3 to 4 times a week, 4 to 5 hours at a stretch, but it was a thrill for me when Gary handed me the Transmitter and said I was on my own. It was a moment I'll never forget, although I wore the knees out of my pants from all the knocking they were doing

Well I was about 30 or 31 I think when I got my wings... I think it took me about 2 months or so. My son just got his a couple of weeks ago at age 14... took him about 6 weeks.

I was 16 when I started and got my wings, that was back in '76 , ......... WOW time fly's ... when your having fun!

My son is 8 and he is basically flying on his own ...... still have him on the Buddy Box, but he takes off flies around does loops and rolls fly's a couple landing patterns and lands.

Must admit some of the landings leave a little to be desired but out of about 50 landings he has only broken 2 props and ripped the landing gear out once.

Actually he is doing pretty good for his age not ready for his wings yet but next year I am sure.

I haven't looked but is there an age limit for flying solo RC?

How old........

I got mine when I was 31. Wow that was a long time ago... No buddy cords back then.... One of my instructors didn't have his wings > His theory was " Do as I say, Not as I do"
The other instructer smoked a "cigar" and used the "bear-hug" method (arms around you from behind in case you yelled "I aint got it").
I lost more hair that year not to mention a few burnt ears.

I was 12 when I got mine back in 1970. Soloed after about 15 flights, you do pick things up faster when you are younger. Come to think of it, I haven't learnt much since

I was 39 when I earned my wings.

I took about 4 months before I solo'd. I was trained on a Senioretta - 3 channel (May it rest in pieces).

And every year I still learn something new. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks, eh?
