Man, so many good suggestions and tips!

FYI - The motor is listed at US$13.20 (plus shipping) and it's on backorder.

I especially like the idea of the phillips screwdriver, I have too darned many of those abominations in my tool box anyhow.

Re: Bent my shaft!

It might depend on if it's a specialty motor made to fit that spot.

That sucks the motor is reasonable but not available. Dave have you ever straightened a nail before? Get a piece of glass and a hardwood block like maple. Roll the shaft on the glass and gently straighten it on the hardwood block. When you get it to roll nice on the glass with no up and down movement try it in the motor again. In a pinch and taking your time you can get these small shafts pretty straight. Most of them are pretty soft so they bend quite easily.

Re: Bent my shaft!

KBC Tools sells O-1 drill rod which is not hardened in 4mm x 36" length here.

Or you can get hardened drill blanks in 4mm x jobber drill length - precision ground here.

Toronto for pickup or you can mail order.
$25 minimum last time I ordered from them.
Great company BTW.

Sounds like a plan, Dennis. I have small anvil and a soft hammer, maybe that will work as well?

Re: Bent my shaft!

I can mail you one of the shafts I have if it's close & only needs a groove cut into it.

Thanks, Larry. I'm going to give the "bash it on the anvil" trick a try, but will be in touch if it doesn't work.
