Chad, is there any way to do this on a scale aerobat?
What would be the size limitations?
These single gas engines shake the cr*p out of the airplane!
Merle makes mounts for any size motor, he will even do custom ones.

To get in a nose ring you need a structural front end so the cowling needs to be rigid. I have seen it done on scratch built pattern models, by running large hard rails (could even be aluminum if you are creative) from the engine box up to the front of the motor to attach the nose ring to.

See the August MAAC mag pattern column for pictures of an electric motor installation......there are supporting rods going forward to align the front of the motor, that should give you the idea of what to do. Or you can see the pic online....

Thanks for the info Chad. I have tried several different types of anti-vibe mounts in the past but I guess I've been using the cheeper ones and have found them not satisfactory!

Please excuse my lack of knowledge here, but what is a "nose ring"?

I do know a few folks using anti vibe mounts and they swear by them. So I do know that it must be that I haven't been using them properly or I haven't been using quality ones. I just have been going with what works best for me and personally I have found the aluminum mounts to work best!

I am all for anything that would help take away vibration and am interested in learning more about this. Any other input you could provide would be appreciated. I have almost eliminated all of my small glow stuff and have been moving mostly toward gassers and electric so I am especially interested in the best way to mount my DA50 and DA100. In your opinion what would be the ideal mounting setup for these large gassers?
