I can't get a name with just the number, I'd like to put his name on the wing which is repaired and flies again.
How does one get the name?
Call the Maac office in Burlington and ask if they will look up the maac # for you. You'll just get the name no other info.

Re: Garage sale find

I guess I will be giving away my age here but to me the LT40 kit (not the ARF) doesn't go back so far. Maybe 18 or 20 years? Certainly not as far back as the Senior or the Mark II. The covering method definitely predates the plane by a long way. I seem to recall iron-on plastic covering was introduced back in the very early 70's. Lots of older fellows continued to use cloth and dope way past that time though for it's superior strength an durability.

Re: Garage sale find

This is very cool. Would be really neat if you could do the tribute thing in some way.

Even though the kit likely post dates the guy's MAAC join date, I could easily see a scenario where the original owner did the same as what you are planning to do and built the plane to teach. I also see older members reverting back to simpler easy to fly planes to stay flying.

I started with a kadet MKII in the early 80's. My dad had Kadet MKI's prior to that. I don't remember for sure but I think the senior and senioritta came around the same time as the MKII. I still think the MKII is a better flying airplane than the LT40 but the LT40 is great.
Pretty cool garage sale find without question!
