Hey Bob,

Is that the .25 LA you got from me? If so, I had issues with that. It shipped with the backplate loose which I didnt notice until like the 3rd test flight where we just couldnt get the damn thing to run properly, and had a heck of a time breaking it in. I too noticed leakage, and decided to check the backplate. Sure enough it was loose. I thought it was just a quality control issue and it shipped without being properly torqued up.
I decided to remove the backplate, apply some RTV and threadlock on the screws. I figured that solved the problem.

Actually with each "incident" our .15 LA's had the same problem when we changed to a new backplate. Constant leaking. What we did was to use the plasticized cardboard (the cardboard, in the case was the OS stuff that was stapled to the backplate bag) and cut washer with it. The washer lasted a season (or until the next backplate "incident") and was a cheap way to maintain the compression and keep the mess down.

Just an alternative

Dan: It's not the one I got from you, it's my other one that I bought and had not run previously. I should have sealed it up before running it since I knew the 15's were bad for this fault. I can't believe that OS that makes such good products can sell this crappy plastic part. I guess the low price is the decider. Once you seal them up they seem to be OK.
Jeff: I'll glady take the metal back plate and use it on one of these motors. I'm really keen now that I have built and flown this little bird.
Should be FUN...By my count we should have 8-10 pilots and planes.
