Looking for electronics supplier...

Hey all,
This is a little off topic, so I hope the moderator doesn't boot me.

I'm looking for an electronics supplier in Canada.
I am starting a project that requires a 24 V 10 A transformer.

I've yet to look at the local suppliers but thought I'd ask around here.

Here are the specs:

Description: Transformer, Chassis Mt, 115V, 24.0VCT, @10.0A Leads

I've found one in the states made by TRIAD MAGNETIC , but I
d rather get one from here if I can.

Thanks,
Jason

The biggest in Canada, to my knowledge, is Electrosonic with 5 outlets across Canada. their catalogue is about 2 inches thick, and the nearest location to you is in Montreal.

They carry the Hammond line of transformers and have a wide variety in their catalogue.

Try www.digikey.ca, they should also be able to supply such a transformer.

Hammond makes transformers, they make several that should do the job.
PH250PR is chassis mount, screw terminals.
167S25 is chassis mount, with leads (and cheaper than PH250PR).

You may be able to get these through a local industrial electrical supply house.

If you don't need the center tap, then the selection opens up even more.

That's a good chunk of transformer

Thanks for all the info The_Big_H. Don't think I need a center tap...not sure what it is though...there is no mention of it in the requirements I have, so I'm guessing not.

wingman2003, I'm building a CNC router.

Thanks

That will take the current all right! My son built a small one with cast off stuff from work and spent about 20 bucks all told (for threaded rod) The Stepper motors really pulled the power. He was boiling water in a beaker by setting it on the load resistors, no less!

He was lucky enough to scrounge stepper motors, power supply, aluminum extrusions, nearly everything from equipment being sent to land fill.

Keep us posted on how it goes. BTW, what is the intended size of the working envelope in your project?

Jason,

You could also try Newark http://www.newarkinone.ca/.

Like Digikey.. both American outfits but with Canadian operations so shipments would come from Canada not US.
