Repairing Fuel Tanks

Has anyone found a way to repair a split tank? Silicone, epoxy, goop, fibreglass, RTV, JB Weld, anything???

Two of my 6 ounce Sullivan tanks have split at the neck during this flying season. This caused fuel to squirt inside my fuselage. Discouraging!

Don't even think of fixing them. Just take 6$ and go buy another one. It's well worth the money as you know how much of a pain a leaky fuel tank is. Just my .02

Haven't found anything yet that will stick to the plastic of the tank AND resist fuel. GOOP sticks the best (until fuel gets on it!). Don't ask me how I know
Unless you can melt the plastic back together at the split (which based on your description I suspect is doubtful) I think you will end up buying a couple more tanks!
IMHO the potential cost savings is not worth the hassle of the repair not holding.

As recommended above, don't even bother to try to fix a split tank!!

I have seen small puncture holes repaired and last using a hot melt glue gun. Wash the area of repair first with Acetone and then apply a glob of the hot glue to the area. When the glue is cooled, do a pressure test to make sure its sealed and will hold.

But again, unless your as poor as a church mouse, chuck it and buy a new one. A 6oz tank is only a few dollars so why take a chance on doing much more damage than that on your plane leaking fuel inside the fuse!
