Problems with a Hanno 60

Hello everyone: I'm somewhat depressed over the following problem. This summer I bought a Kaos with an O.S. 60 Hanno with pump and pipe, and I've put over 70 flights on it without any problems. HOWEVER, about a week ago I started having a real hard time with the engine, and here's what happens:
a) The engine starts with dificulty and once it starts cannot go past 50% RPMs
b) when throttling down it just quits
So I tried the following things
a) put a new OS #8 plug
b) used a fresh gallon of fuel
c) checked fuel lines, tank, clunk, etc
d) opened the needle valve all the way to try to reset it.
BUT like George W. Bush, "its just more of the same" i.e. hard starts, no power past 50%, and stalling when throttlig down. In fact, when closing the needle valve with the throttle wide open, the engine just ignores the needle until it is totally closed, at which point it stalls of course. But there is no "leaning out" with an increase in RPM! I will now try bypassing the pump completely as I think that perhaps that's where my problem is. Any guidance? Thank you very much
