Typically I try to avoid UPS at all costs but sometimes you just get stuck.

USPS wouldn't take it due to it's size, and Fedex was very expensive, so was UPS air. That left me with pretty few choices unfortunately.

Had it been a small package I'd have had it fedex'd but due to the size, I was stuck So, it's supposed to be here tomorrow, here's hoping it's in one piece........

You guys missed the point... it wasn't US Customs or US Homeland Security holding this delivery up it was Canada Customs.

Don't forget they are in a labour dispute right now so probably most of the problem was they were working to rule and following the customs bibble to the letter to delay things and try and get settlement.

I was contemplating ordering something from the states that was about $50 cheeper then distributor in Canada. Even with having to pay GST & PST to the Canadian distributor and the original $50 difference I decided it wouldn't be worth the possible customs hassles.

Other option for GTA people... FedEx has a will call depot in Cheektawaga NY. Get item shipped there and held then drive down pickup and you might get back accross paying less then you expected.

Many companies won't ship to Canada because of these hassles. Not that it directly affects them but from all the complaints they get from Canadians about slow shipping times and brokerage costs.

That's why unless I am absoloutley certain I CAN'T get it from my LHS I buy from them. Think about warranties to when you shop. Many warrenties for US sold items don't apply in Canada.
