Looking for new radio Sysytem....

I'd like everyone's opinion on what they are using in the real world, real time! .

Here is what I'd like to see:
-Under $1000.
-"At least" 12 channels.

Futaba has been my brand forever but I don't need to stay with them.

Re: Looking for new radio Sysytem....

I'd even consider an A-1 condition used system.

You might consider this one at under $1000 . I went with the DS-16 but programing is the same. None of the components ie radio , receivers , telemetry modules are made in china. All quality components.... a top notch radio .

There are other dealers in Canada . Several that got on line this last year like Pro-RC in Alberta and Altecaire R/C in Ontario. may be others . The odd time a great deal comes along with a used one but never lasts long as users or potential buyers snap them up faster than lightening. They have , without question; the best and most extensive telemetry system out there and no; I don't work for them or a hobby store that sells them.

Re: Looking for new radio Sysytem....

Flying a Taranis with OpenTX firmware and beyond happy with it. Never a glitch and a new model can be set up in seconds ... even less time if you ware using CompanionTX. Extremely flexible.

Personally, I appreciate being able to tweak, test and adjust on my computer (and it is running Linux) in additional to uploading custom switch sounds. If I have made an error the problem shows up in the simulator and not in the air. I have a plethora of D and X Frsky model receivers. I also use a module for my Spectrum helis.

I am watching for Horus to become available and seriously considering moving up.

The price is very, very good compared with other products.

Re: Looking for new radio Sysytem....

The neck strap goes into the front of the red switch protector. It is there.

Re: Looking for new radio Sysytem....

Some owners had issues with the circuit boards not being cleaned of flux after soldering at the factory. Some sort of corrosion set in and had components fail but fixed
once re-soldered. Seems all circuit boards of all brands of radios need a wash to clean
the boards. Someone said " separates the men from the boys". Don't need issues when up in the air with that expensive bird. Although the software/programming is very good
the hardware needs work. The Horus story has been very quiet lately. ???

Re: Looking for new radio Sysytem....

Can you point to the "wash"? Maybe I need to check.
