I have one of these super tiger G .21/.29 bnib, .29 is stamped on the side of the motor. needle valve is still in its original sealed package and all paperwork is there as well..... Any value and a collectors item? Or should I just put it in an plane and fly it? I'm building an Italian themed aircraft and an Italian motor would complete the theme but if there is more value as a collectors item I may hold off.

NO great value as they made thousands. If it fits your airframe by all means fly it.
Photos would be great!

Re: Super tiger .21 /.29

This engine is old technology. The piston and cylinder are made of a leaded steel alloy. It is called a lapped piston. You must add at least 150ML of oil to a gallon of fuel as to not burn up the engine when you run it. This brings the oil content up to 20%. If the exhaust oil looks black you need to add more oil. They were designed to run with 25% oil. In their day they were top of the line engine.

Re: Super tiger .21 /.29

A complete NIB Supertigre G21-29 with box would likely sell on rcgroups for $70 U.S. shipped .... the box and the NIB makes the difference.

A .15 size Supertigre in the same G21 line sold there, with buyer paying shipping, for, I suspect, $50 U.S. (this was the asking price and the sale was made the same day so I suspect $50 was also the selling price)

I have the same engine, complete but used. Read the review on the .35 engine in the same lineup: the suggestion is to add a head gasket for breakin as the piston/liner fit was very tight.

good luck

Re: Super tiger .21 /.29

Thanks all. Some good information..... Looks like I will put it back in the box and go with my trusted OS .25 on my new build. To much of a hassle to run specific fuel for one plane...... Easier to have one fuel for all the nitro planes.....
