Just wanted to see what opinion every has on Lipo's? Best brand, best bang for the buck etc.

I got 2 x 2S Team Great Hobbies 6500 mAh 50C as well as 2 x 3S Team Great Hobbies 4000 mAh 30C.

I have seen some lipo's on American websites selling for what seems like a pretty good deal but kind of nervous to buy as the brands could be crap and last thing I need is a battery exploding on me.

Re: Lipo's

I'm a cheapskate so I buy Hobby King Turnigy Batteries. As long as you run them within the C rating and not allow them to draw down too low or run too hot, they can last quite a while. Many of my batts are over 4 years old and this year I am looking to refresh my inventory.

On the other hand, I do have some ThunderPower batteries that run amazing and will last probably a lot longer than the Turnigies. But the important thing is still caring for the Lipos.

Re: Lipo's

Well I tried to put a couple lipo's in a cart and have them shipped to me from Tower Hobbies they will not ship them to Canada.

I also just checked out Great Hobbies and was totally surprised to see 10,000 mAh and 13,000 mAh, thats crazy who needs that juice? lol I just ran my Savage Flux for about 20-25 mins just now and they still have some juice in the lipos.

Ever had any explode on you? My buddy just had his lipos quit on him and waiting to get some new ones, he was telling me stories of other people he knows who had batteries explode while charging.

Does Hobby King ship lipos to Canada? I'm way up in the arctic and the only way I can get anything is via airlines (only way in and out of this isolated place is by plane lol).

Re: Lipo's

The only 2 batteries I buy nowadays for a while now is the hobbyking Nanotechs if I'm budgeting, but pulse batteries from rotorquest if I actually want a good pack.

The gen's ace packs from rotorquest are good too but i like the pulse myself and there only a couple dollars more, sometimes the same price.

FYI, a friend of mine at our club just replaced his pulse packs and was flying them on a goblin 770. He checked his kontronik logs and they showed 2,911 cycles!!!! on the SAME two 7s packs he was using for 14s

Just shows you how good those pulse packs are cuz thats incredible

Re: Lipo's

Pulse or Gens Ace from Rotorquest are the best, unfortunately turnigy from hobby king are expensive due to shipping (I used to by lipo's from HK alot). You can only get a couple at a time, have found rotorquest to be a cheaper option, the batteries are better as well.

Re: Lipo's

That is an aweful lot of Then there are cycles and then there are cycles. Meaning if any battery , doesn't matter what the chemical makeup, is discharged down to say 10 to 15 % and then recharged vs discharging to 50% and then recharging... You will get a lot more cycles with the 50 % recharged batteries. As Max said , a lot depends on how batteries are handled as far as the charging process. Of course there will be differing opinions some correct and others not so correct.

Re: Lipo's

I Buy Hobbyking Turnigy batteries. As Max said, buy the highest C rating you can. Their heavy duty batteries are very good when you consider the price. I Run my packs fairly hard and have not had any issues yet.

A note about shipping (and this includes hobbyking), FedEx will not ship anything over 5000Mah capacity no matter what voltage it is. and FedEx is the usual method companies will use. It will be designated as dangerous goods.
