Great Hobbies free shipping

Is the free shipping from Great Hobbies over with ? I loaded up a cart today and went over the required $100.00 it normally was to qualify for free shipping, but noticed on the quote sheet it was appx. 15 dollars to ship.
Thinking it was one of the items disqualifying it, I removed everything, added in a couple of servos totally 180 bucks, and same thing, 18 dollars shipping.
Certainly hope it's not gone for good.

Re: Great Hobbies free shipping

I read your post and logged in to great hobbies to try it and i got the same thing, i looked around and no longer see it advertised.
That's a bummer, another site that offers free shipping in Canada is Hobby Wholesale anything over $80.00 right now they offer free shipping.

It used to be a 50.00 minimum at Hobby Wholesale, they must have upped the limit......it is costly to ship within Canada. I am surprised anyone offers free shipping at all.

Re: Great Hobbies free shipping

But somehow you need to stay competitive. On the other thread I just showed a Hitec radio for 592 from Tower or 675 from Great Hobbies. I can't afford to waste $83.
And if anyone calls "service!" as a reason. I bought a 2nd hand kit and initially it was lacking plans. Emailed Hobbico and the reply was "Oh my god! They are on the way to you!" and they were, no charge.

Was that $592 in CDN or US funds?

Re: Great Hobbies free shipping

The free shipping from GH is via Canada Post. With the possibility of a postal disruption, you have to specifically tell them you are willing to accept the risk of a delay to get the free shipping. I called them about it, and they said it was still available, but you have to notify GH that you are willing to accept the risk of it getting stuck if Canada Post shuts down. A note in the order form seems to work.

Re: Great Hobbies free shipping

Well, you would think as a courtesy, they would tell you that.

Re: Great Hobbies free shipping

With basically no information, or even a link to information, for anything they sell on their web site (once you do find it), I wouldn't expect shipping information either!

Why do the big Canadian on-line hobby shops have such terrible web sites? Some of the little shops have far better ones.
