Trouble binding frsky rx. With futaba radio

Hi Guys,
I have a FRSKY TFR6 7 channel Rx I am trying to bind with my futaba 10J Radio. When I tried to bind the receiver the radio did not recognize the FRSKY Rx and it only gives me the option of T-Fhss to be linked- i tried that but no luck. I tried to switch it to the S-fhss mode but it would not allow that either.

I am not familiar with the FRSKY Rx's but I assume the channel mapping is as follows:
1 - A
2- E
3- T
4- RUDDER ???

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your valued input.

Re: Trouble binding frsky rx. With futaba radio

Are you using a FrSky module in your Futaba transmitter ? If not, it will never bind. The RF portion of the transmitter must be of the same brand as the receiver to be able to talk to each other.

Time to update the personal database......................................
FrSky TFR6 7ch 2.4Ghz Receiver FASST Compatible

And to the OP I think it references FASST only. The 10J docs I saw don't mention FASST

Futaba T-FHSS, S-FHSS 2.4GHz security

Re: Trouble binding frsky rx. With futaba radio

4*60 has it correct. The FRSKY is a FASST compatible receiver and that transmitter does not use that format.

If you want a receiver that will work, switch to one like the Delta 8:

NOTE: I have been using their legacy ACCST with JR and the FASST compatible receivers with my Futaba. Both have been proving themselves rock solid reliable.

I see. Thank you for your input guys. Looks like the Fasst system of the FRSKY won't work with the 10J as it only recognizes T-fhss and S-fhss Receivers.

Re: Trouble binding frsky rx. With futaba radio

It is the transmitter that determines the coding. All compatible receivers accept and interpret the signals from the transmitter, while telemetry types also return data from internal and external sensors.

The original FASST setup was always full-range, while the early FHSS system was their low-cost, entry-level offering for park-flyers with the receivers sporting a single antenna and reduced range. Newer receivers are listed as full-range with the usual 2 antenna rig, but to be honest cannot say if there has been any alteration in the transmitter output.

The latest versions of both formats allow for telemetry, (FASSTest and T-FHSS).

The FASST and FHSS use different chipsets that are not compatible, so you have to ensure your transmitter and receiver have the same listing.

Some higher end Futaba transmitters have the capability to switch between the two formats, (I believe starting with the 14SG). Others seem to be software enabled to do that trick. Have you checked to see if this is possible with your 10J? Not sure as yours is a software upgrade to the 8J and I do not think internal hardware is there for the FHSS. Never hurts to ask.

Re: Trouble binding frsky rx. With futaba radio

Gary,
thank you so much for your detailed and insightful comments. I will check to see if my tx software will enable me to try this trick. I am not an expert on how to do this but I will call futaba directly tomorrow.

thanks again.;

Regards

Balbir
