Heat shrink fabric hint - dacron from Stits or Sig Koverall

Shrinking the Stits Lite fabric, or Sig Koverall, is a lot easier for me since I started using a little handheld infrared temperature probe from Duratrax called Flashpoint. Much easier than the candy-thermometer-in-a-block-of-balsa method to measure your covering irons. This little "gun" is about the size of a key fob and costs $45 Cdn from Great Hobbies or $25 US from Tower. The R/C car guys use them for monitoring the cylinder temps on their high nitro engines. The pistol-style RayTek guns are very good, but this is much cheaper. The Duratrax unit measures at quite a wide angle, so you should get pretty close to what you are measuring, which ironically makes it dangerous around engines with propellors, where the Raytak guns are narrowly focused (like a camera spot-meter) and easier to use around multicylinder engines with spinning props. The Raytek unit with a laser spot for aiming is $140 Cdn at Great Hobbies, by way of comparison. Here's a link to the Duratrax product if anyone's interested: http://www.duratrax.com/caraccys/dtxp3100.html
