Test Flew my Sig Kougar

I test flew my Sig Kougar today. Got two flights in. Here is the original thread and some pics:

Overall I am VERY happy with it. :P Flies like you would expect a Kougar to: goes where you point it and slows nicely (and predictably) for landing.

It needed full right aileron to fly straight, but otherwise seems to be quite true. For some reason I didn't put any right thrust in the motor--this could be a big part of the problem. I'm also going to balance it laterally, that could be a factor also. I expect to put in about 3 degrees of right thrust and see how that works.

BTW, the ten year old YS .45 that I rebuilt with two new bearings worked GREAT. Thanks for your help, ANDREW, Bryan M, John D, and whoever else answered my cries for engine help. (Thanks to you too, JAson. Great site! ) (See http://www.rccanada.ca/bb/viewtopic....868&highlight= if you're interested)

I had my doubts about rebuilding that engine. Your help was invaluable. If I can rebuild an engine, ANYBODY can.

I won't mention the California sunshine, 20 degree weather and calm winds during the test flight.

This is a great hobby.

I can remember test flying my first low wing plane - a Sig Kougar - I believe the year was 1986, thing were much simpler then.

I meant to say full right aileron TRIM.

Oooops. That would be nasty if it was full right aileron!

Your turn will come Andrew. When its 120 degrees f here, it'll be 75 f or so there. I'll be inside and it'll be too hot to go into the garage to build.

Hey AJK, can you please look at my thread on the 1/4 scale Great Planes Giles and motor recommendations. Its here:

I'd like your opinion.
