Cirrus RC-4J Radio help

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
Good day all,

I have aquired an old Cirrus RC-4J 4 Star radio from a friend who had a bunch of old RC stuff. Unfortunately it is without receiver and servos. I've been searching the net for information on Cirrus and haven't found much of anything. Especially about a radio this old.

The freq is 72.870 MHz. I was wondering if any of you had any comments on the following:

-Is this a suitable radio to us at a RC Club?
-Is it suitable to use in a remote area where I won't interfer with other aircraft?
-Where might I find a used receiver and servos for this radio?
-Are there other types of recievers and servos from another manufacturer that I could purchase for use with this radio?

Thanks in advance for your time and have a great day.

I still have an old Cirrus but different model. If it's not gold stickered narrow banded on the back you wouldn't be able to use it at a club field. Bur would be fine elsewhere. They were made by Futaba so Futaba rcvr. and servos would work fine. Or jobber ones like FMA. which is what I use would work. Same with the servos. I use a lot of GWS and Bluebird servos. Hope this helps.
Tried for my kamikazi pilots licence. Flunked the test.
