I was away from the hobby after my daughter was born and I was gone for 20 years. I'm just back to flying some decent figure 8's. I'll be happy to get back up to some loops, rolls, and inverted flight. For now, I was pretty pumped and happy to do a surprise auto.

And he's been punted... conversation looks weird now
Two wrongs don't make a right, but two Wrights will make an airplane.

Re: I can still auto!

Had a similar experience with my Radikal G20. Was up in the air about 40 feet when there was a loud snap. I hit the throttle hold and lowered the collective without thinking about it. It came down fast. About 15 feet from the ground I gave it some collective and it stopped, popped up a little then settled down to an easy landing. I had practiced a lot of auto's on the Phoenix flite sim. Sure came in handy as that was the first time I had actually done a real auto. The other day I was flying the Blade 450 3D out in the same clear cut when I lost it in the sun/clouds for a second. wasn't too high. It came down in the popple's inverted. Didn't hit the TH quick enough and now I have a bunch of parts coming. Glad it wasn't the G20.

Re: I can still auto!

When I switched to Taranis, the switches are in different spots compared to my JR. The right shoulder was my throttle hold for helis, but that switch was only momentary on the Taranis. So for a while, I tried flying the racing quad with the arming switch (throttle hold) on the top left. What a mess. I've bumped it in flight while changing gyro modes on the quad, and dropped it out of the sky from 100'. And the reflexive move for helis is mixed up, now too.

Finally smartened up, opened the case of the Taranis, and moved and reprogrammed switches. Now to train those reflexed back into shape!
