Announcing Jet Days

The Phelan RC Flying Club, south of Ottawa, extends this invitation to all pilots of turbine or electric powered jets to come out and fly with us on Saturday September 3rd.

This is a no-pressure casual fly-in for all jet pilots who feel the need to burn kero or electrons. Come out and check out our field with its 370 ft long asphalt runway surrounded by a 600 x 60 ft grass field. Have some BBQ burgers with us for lunch and enjoy the day with fellow jet flyers.

Jet Days will be an ongoing series of jet-only fly-ins in 2017 on one Saturday per month throughout the flying season.

See more details on the MAAC Event Page

Check out www.rideauflyers.com for field location details.

Re: Announcing Jet Days

OK, so this is definitely short notice and it's on a long weekend, so we weren't expecting a big response, but I was hoping there would be a smidge more than what we have so far.

Is anyone in the Ottawa area interested/available for a jet day with us. Truth is that we are a fledgling few jet pilots and want some company to share and learn as much as we can.

If you're even thinking about it, could you post something for me here, please?

Thanks, gang.

Re: Announcing Jet Days

I flew my jets very often there and you can take off on the grass part or asphalt .
I think a 100-140 turbine size will have no problem at our club..
You have lots of sky to fly there and shade for drink before flights.
Beautiful place to fly to enjoy your toys and friends.
Definitively the perfect spot for EDF . From Electra to small foamie the place is great.

Re: Announcing Jet Days

Thought I posted some where, maybe on the other forum.... I'm planning to be there with a few guys from Stetson. I am also a fledgling jet pilot, I will have my Hawk but I will decided when I am there if I am comfortable to fly, but will be there either way.

Re: Announcing Jet Days

WOW! Fantastic turnout. This was way better than my meager expectations. We saw a really good cross-section of jets today. Thanks so much to all the visiting pilots that entertained us all. We had a great exchange of jet info and solidified some new friendships.

Jet Day one - Speed Records - I gave away two Great Hobbies Gift Cards for high speed runs. (Thank-you Dave Rees at Ottawa Great Hobbies!)

So the fastest EDF jet went to Ken Park at 150 KPH with his Phase 3 F-16. Then 10 minutes after I handed out the prize, Dave Penchuk flew his Freewing Scorpion to 161 kph!

The fastest turbine jet was Jeff Daly's BVM Bandit @ 356 kph!!!

For anyone interested, I was using the Pocket Radar Classic unit today. http://store.pocketradar.com/Classic...R1000_p_8.html

Re: Announcing Jet Days

Hi Mike and the gang,

Thank you for organizing a fantastic day of flying! It was great to meet up with friends both new and long time. The field is fantastic and lunch was great. I loved the smell of kero wafting across the field. I look forward to many more in the future.
