I do Don I just have to find it. The flybar blades actually do have some lift otherwise it wouldn't get off the ground.I';m hoping to also do a better job of hiding the flybar. I have another idea that will make the blades themselves self stabilizing but I'm not at the point I want to try building them yet.

Re: Four blade fly barred head

Here is a video I managed to find, as you can see it is in need of (A) a good operator and (B) setting up. Once I had the body mounted on it and everything adjusted properly it was very stable almost but not quite as stable as a quad. It did behave differently though, the control was quick enough for scale but not for hot dogging around so for me it flew just right. I got rid of it because anything bigger than a 500 is too big for me and anything smaller than a 500 is too twitchy for me. By the way what size are the tail rotor blades I want to order some from Rotorquest. I have to down load the video on You Tube back in a bit.

More progress. Bored to 8 mm on the lathe next will be milling and drilling.

Re: Four blade fly barred head

More machining it's starting to take shape. As I go along I get the odd good idea and change direction to use a better idea. The good thing about this build is I'm learning from my past mistakes.

Re: Four blade fly barred head

More drilling and tapping. Still have to drill and tap the blade studs then figure out how my fly bar is going to look. The set screws are going to lock the blade studs in place.

Re: Four blade fly barred head

This is the fly bar seesaw, the hole was machined on the lathe the sides are milled to .058 thick on each side. The straight pieces are milled roughly to size. I will drill the holes for the seesaw first then the straight pieces will be drilled with the centre piece to match them. Once all the drilling a taping is done I will then cut the centre piece in half.

Re: Four blade fly barred head

The head is almost done, I just have to drill the sides for the seesaw bearings. The slot is where the fly bar passes through the head and the hole is where the Jesus bolt goes into.

Re: Four blade fly barred head

All the parts so far. The fly bar will be cut in half then threaded with a 3 mm die. I plan on making the fly weights out of brass which I believe I started but misplaced them somewhere in my shed.

Re: Four blade fly barred head

Test fitting the parts. A lot of trimming to do and some milling on the side piece of the see saw that is .009 too thick. Next pictures I take should be the completed project, next project will be my own design for a Stirling engine.
