scale lighting systems for models
Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
Hi guys just looking for some feedback on whats available as far as functional and scale lighting systems for our models. Iwould like to install functional nav, landing and strobe on my SkyMaster F18 but iam wondering if its worth the effort??? as I have not seen or heard of any systems yet that may meet my expectations...
Ideally I would like to find a highly visible nav, strobe and landing light system that shows up well and can be seen on a sunny day... I have been surfing the web and checked out a few of the popular brand manufactures lighting systems but what they show on their websites are lights operating either at night or indoors in darkend rooms Happy New Year

I had the RAM setup on a CG Sukhoi, they were the flashing nav lights complete with a switch that allowed me to turn it off and on with my radio.
Used it one or 2 times, still sitting on my shelf (for 4 or 5 years) interested?? I sell it cheap. Chris

To be totally honest, I can't remember how they looked. Is this a sign of old age???
They are strobe style of lights so in theory they would show in daylight, how well..........???? Sorry I can'r be more helpful, like I said they've sat on a shelf for 4 or 5 years. Chris

I think I will now just consider making up a nose strut mounted landing light (home made) I have made up landing lights before using a small 'Maglite' lens and a servo activated micro switch and 9v battery with pretty good results... Chris, Iam interested in your strobe lights but Iam curious to see size and shape? could you post a pic please

Hi Marty,
Unfortunately, my digital camera went Chernobyl about a month or so ago I'll have to take a picture of it the old fashioned way and get it developed. May take some time, not enough hours in the day it seems. Chris

Marty, I know where you can get the Xemon flash in 6V or 12V if you're interested let me know, definitely very bright at daylight.

I remember many years ago installing a large home made strobe light into the tail of a Pilot ARF Talon (anyone remember those) .... it worked fine on the ground but once I took off every time the strobe flash went off the Talon did a half snap roll to the right, I managed to get it back onto the ground pretty much in one piece, but it was the funniest thing my fellow club member had seen for a long while they said as I was also glitching with body language and laughing so much I had tears in my eyes flying the little thing around the patch. I guess Iam obviously no expert with electronics so I better stick with the purpose built tried and tested lights if I use a strobe again |
