Re: Cox .049 Throttle assembly

Did you notice the link to a magazine review of this "Canadian" Cox engine that is part of the ebay page you linked to... the review is by Andrew Coholic, a respected small engine enthusiastic..... I believe he is a professional woodworker in central/northern Ontario and likely has posted in rccanada.

Also, the website has its own forum.... look for a link to this forum at the bottom of the right hand column of pages/sections.... the forum may have comments about modifying "tanked" Cox .049 engines with this backplate.

good luck

Re: Cox .049 Throttle assembly

Hey that is cool!

When I first saw the thread header I thought I would post about my experience with the crappy muffler-throttle cox had on their 049's way back. Was i surprised to see this gadget. what a cool idea. But does it work?? (not that I would ever run an 049 ever again- I still remember how they slimed all over everything...LOL

Re: Cox .049 Throttle assembly

I don't have one, so have no first hand info, but have heard the low end is quite rich. Having said that, the planes will likely land fine with a high idle speed as the propellers are not very efficient at low speeds.
