This is for you guys who have been around the hobby longer than me.

I have a Waco SRE built from a Sterlig kit.It's really nice and if the company is still around I would like to see what other models they put out. Are they still around?

The plane is equipped with MRC servos and rec.,it would be nice to have a trans. to go with it. Are they still in buisiness?

Thanks for the Help

They sure are a heavy built plane. I had a Stirling Waco but gave it to a friend of mine. Too nice for me to beat up . There's a pic in my profile.
Mine was at least 20 years old.

Sterling has been gone for some time, there are some collectors that have a lot of information on their products, and you can still find the occasional kit. There was a thread on RCU about Sterling kits recently, yu may want to look there.

My first proportional radio was an MRC 5 channel. I don't think they've made radios for quite some time...;

Here's a link to their website anyway;

This Waco was built in the 60's. The gentleman who built it was a craftsman and did a great job of it.
I went to the MRC website .They do not list radios at all.Maybe it's just as well,the servos are pretty old and are likely to fail.It would be a shame to bang it up,it has never been flown.

Built a Sterling Mustang back in 1966. They were a heavy kit but very well designed. I think I still have the makings of a Fokker D 7 around somewhere. I'll see if I can find a pic. of the mustang. Won the concourse D' Elegance with it in that yr. in the Ottawa club.
Tried for my kamikazi pilots licence. Flunked the test.

Sterling Lancer

I just build a Sterling Lancer-Christmas gift for my son!-In our club Bluewater Flyers it's like a fad to have a Lancer- some one had a set of plans from an old kit and they are being copied quite a few times- very fast and fun little plane and very aerobatic

I remember them back when I was a kid..I think I had one of their P-40 U/C P-40's way back when.....

More recently, I got a Sterling Schwiezer 1-34 glider (I didn't even know they made gliders..). Gadzillions of stringers..... it was supposed to come out at 2lbs, but ended up just short of 5 lbs!! Fortunately, it flies great...and looks great too!

The sooner you fall behind, the more time you will have to catch up.

Sterling kits

I built allot of Sterling kit in the past and remember that the balsa was bad and pulpy and what we called die crunching for parts. There were a lot of small parts to glue together but these planes flew great . Built three Fledgling trainers and many of their profile control line planes [ p51, ring master ] They also made rubber powered planes and some boats. Cut my building skills building and replacing parts on these kits.
