I just heard that modelling pioneer Hal deBolt passed away last Thursday. I remember reading his construction articles in the magazines when I was a kid.. Modelling sure changed a lot since those days, and he was one of the frontrunners pushing the envelope.

Wanye,
I can remember building and flying a few of his older RC jobs. They can talk all they want about trainer type aircraft but he was one of them that built the self-righting in. To bad he was a pioneer to some of us.

Sorry to hear about Hals passing. He must have been a ripe old age by now. He certainly left a lasting impression on a lot of folks, who are or have been, involved with modeling.
The first flying RC model I saw was a DeBolt Live Wire Trianer on a three channel relay system. It left a lasting impression on me. My first successful RC model was a DeBolt Champ, first on single channel and later on reeds. I eventually flew this same model with one of the early proportional radios. Many successfull flights thanks to Hals talent and his ability to share these talents with us all.

Before his RC successes, he was also a pioneer in C/L stunt design. His company (DMECO?) produced some great C/L kits. Another great figure from the Golden Age of aeromodeling is gone.
