Hey, I was digging through some old pictures on my computer and found this. I took this at one of my clubs fun flys a couple years back. The odd thing is is that it was a nice soft landing. What we think happened is that he touched down off the pavement and the lip from the grass to the runway ripped out the gear causing the fuse to snap in half.

Looks just like one of my "nice soft landings"

I'm lucky enough that I'm usually the one with the camera, so when I'm flying, it's in the car, not at the flight line.

Great shot. Does anyone remember what the pilot's first words were? I remember seeing a video years ago from some international scale competition. A guy made a perfect approach with his ME109 but touched down just where the ashphalt started. The airplane shattered and there couldn't of been more than a 1/2" step between the ashphalt and the gravel.

great shot

Hey that looks just like a plane from our club. It was an extra if I remember correctly, and the guy made a perfect landing and was well into his rollout when the wheels hit a small rock that had found its way onto the runway, it broke the plane right in two under the wing in the narrow part of the fuse, so away went the plane in three large pieces bouncing down the runway. It happened on one of those days when everyone was at the field too, so he hed a large audience. The guys all cracked up, wish I had a photo of it, but it was just like the one above.
