I've used the same R700 on chs 18 and 39. NEVER had a problem.
When you buy a new R700, they dont sell them based on what frequency you are using.
Transmitters apparently are "setup" for specific frequencies. I'm sure this is just a way for Horizon to make money "setting it up" (even tyour LHS will tell you this) if you change crystals. Anyone who trys to convince you that JRs have to be "tuned" just wants your money. I've used JR XF421, 662, 6102 transmitters and R700 recievers on multiple frequencies, both hi and lo and never had even as much as hickup in my signal.
