Saito 80 engine bearing swap

Hello; I swapped teh bearings in my Saito 80 today, I had it in my big Bingo on floats. It got so noisy that I just couldn't ignore it an longer. The inner race of teh rear bearing had cracked and the hard surfacing was missing around teh crack. The ball holder came apart while I was tapping eth bearing out, leaving the outer race to get out. I had to make up a tool to get it out. I have two 80's, this one has an earlier carb that has two needles. I zapped up to Nanaimo to get the bearings. when I re-assembles teh engine I noticed that the intake valve gap had opened up to .015, but the exhaust hadn't changed. I installed it all in the Bingo and dragged it ll outside and fired it up. I changed to a new OS "F" plug, and started to tune it up. whenever I touched the screwdriver to the low speed needle I pushed it in towards the carb, the idle would stabilise in a purr. I kept leaning the low speed, about 3 turns in seemed best.

I put the tach on it, 11,900 on a 13 x 8 MAS, idle down to 2200. I'll have to get another prop for it, I have a 12 x 10 I'd like to try.

Altogether (without the drive to Nanaimo) the job took about an hour.
