UPS Brokerage Fees

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
As most of us know when getting something from the US via UPS we have to pay a $50 brokerage fee.

I'm sending a package to the US, does anyone know if the recepient in the US also gets charged a similar unreasonable brokerage fee?

Thanks
James

I find the Post Office is usually the best in both directions.

I would think yes our American friends would have to pay brokerage fee just like us. You could phone UPS and find out.

I do not think so... packages going from here to the USA are not taxed. The UPS charge is mainly to cover the "paperwork" for collecting and submitting the taxes to the Canadian Government (the same thing Canada Post only charges a flat $5 for).

I may be wrong but I dont think there are any charges going the other way... from Can to the US.

I know the answer to that question already, as I ship to the US almost daily.

Anything under $200.00 US in value, enters the US without any brokerage fee. If you upgrade to overnight shipping, there are no brokerage fees charged at all, regardless of the value.

Hope that helps.
