With the rapid advancements taking place with our radio systems and with the increase in world competition, this capability is something that would be most usefull!

What would be involved in making a radio have this capability? Perhaps a plugin exchangable module? Or would it have to be hard wired in and software selectable? I just find it interesting to contemplate! Futaba does seem to be quite advanced in this area and they will probably be the first to have this sort of capability.

It will indeed be interesting to see what other advances can be made with our radio systems! Just a few short years ago, we wouldn't have thought half the stuff we have now would have been possible and now look at them!
Conventional radios all it takes is a 35MHz module and 35 MHz receivers....the 14MZ is rather unique though so I am not sure how it will work with it.

As with Ed I have many times flown my North American equipment on 35MHz.

Which frequencies you can select from a determined from what region your radio is coded to. At the moment, this radio is locked into US/72MHz which means we can only use the valid US frequencies.

This also means that no longer can you just go to another country and buy another module on a valid frequency and just fly. Somehow, the region in the transmitter will have to be changed to the 14MZ. How this is done, remains to be seen.

Apparently all this has been done to prevent ‘grey market’ sales. Sounds very similar to the DVD region coding that used to be in effect, look how well that succeeded (for those who don’t know, it fell on it’s ass and is now ineffective).
