There is a fellow at our field that constantly
leaves his transmitter in the sun. I mentioned
to him that he should get his transmitter out of
the sun when he is not using it. I went on
to explain that heat will build up in the LCD
display and will greatly shorten the life of the

I know this because I have two fishfinders
that have bad displays, just for this reason.
I returned one to the manufacturer, in the hopes
of warrantee. The manufacturer explained that
the heat from the sun will heat build up in the
display and eventually degrade the display and
is not covered under the warrantee. He went on
to say that I should cover the display when not in
use to protect it.

I realize that this is not a big deal, but at
the cost of the radio, it is prudent to protect
it as best you can.

Too much heat or not enough (freezing) will do them in. The latter much faster than the first

I found mine would go so dark that I could not read it...really tough to make changes at the field....

The sooner you fall behind, the more time you will have to catch up.

Assuming it is the same as watches, I've had a watch "explode" so the whole screen went black.
I never crash...I land with style!
